These are the GrimmSpeed Phenolic Thermal Spacers. These thermal spacers have been designed to absorb the heat that generates between the intake manifold and the engine block. When running the factory gaskets only, the intake manifold can get very hot to the touch, and that unnecessary internal heat gets cycled back through the engine leaving much room for improvement. GrimmSpeed has come up with a great solution by creating a set of phenolic spacers that are available in a variety of thicknesses to absorb that heat to drastically reduce the transfer of heat from the engine block to the intake manifold. The result is a 1% increase in horsepower for every 5 degrees of heat reduction.
